Pretty Peacock Die Five Ways
Handmade Card Tutorial: Bold Color Layered Design
Welcome to my first tutorial here on April Notes 💕 In this project, I’m sharing how I build layered, color-forward handmade cards using Birch Press Design dies and bold cardstock combinations.
My goal is simple: show how color, layering, and texture can turn paper into something emotional and expressive.

✨ What I used in this project
- Birch Press Design Block Print Pretty Peacock Die set
- Assorted cardstocks from the Birch Press 6x6 paper packs
- Gemini Junior Die Cut Machine
- Liquid adhesive + foam tape for dimension
💡 Design notes
This card was built around contrast—soft blush tones against deeper greens and neutrals. I like to start with a color story first, then choose dies that support that mood rather than overwhelm it.
Layering is what brings everything to life. Even simple shapes feel more intentional when you add depth and shadow.
Thanks for being here—more tutorials, color palettes, and behind-the-scenes process posts coming soon 💕
