About
Hi, I'm April.
Paper has been my language since I was eleven years old.
It started simply enough — a scrapbook kit, a pack of stickers, and the quiet satisfaction of arranging things just so on a page. That feeling never left. Over the years it evolved from traditional scrapbooking to pocket pages to, eventually, handmade cards. And somewhere along the way, making cards stopped being a hobby and became something closer to a calling.
I founded April Notes in 2017 with one simple mission: to share the joy of making something beautiful by hand, and to inspire others to try it too. What I didn't expect was how much this community would give back — the creativity, the generosity, the genuine delight people take in a handmade card arriving in a real mailbox.
What you'll find here
This is where I share tutorials, technique deep-dives, and honest reviews of the supplies I actually use. I'm a member of the Birch Press Design team, which means I get to work regularly with some of the most intricate geometric and floral layering dies in the cardmaking world. I also create for Concord & 9th, whose bold, graphic aesthetic speaks directly to my love of clean color and strong design.
My style tends toward the bright and bold — saturated color, crisp backgrounds, and the satisfying precision of a perfectly layered die cut. I'm drawn to cards that make someone stop and say you made that?
A little more about me
By day I'm a Certified Financial Planner — which means I spend a lot of time thinking carefully about details, long-term goals, and building something sustainable. It turns out those same instincts translate surprisingly well to cardmaking. And to building a creative business.
I'm based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I believe firmly that a handmade card is one of the most personal gifts you can give someone.
Let's connect
I'd love for you to follow along. You can find my tutorials on YouTube, my daily card work on Instagram, and my curated supply picks right here on this site. If you ever have a question about a technique, a product, or where to start — reach out. This community is the best part of all of it.
— April
